MY VALUES
- I an existentialists, believe in power to the individual and strongly feel the need for people to be able to take advantage of their individuality and create themselves through choice. Specifically, i like to use the choice of expression.
- To some feminism may be a dirty word, but to me it is a uplifting group of so called 'riot grrls'. I first found my home in feminism in the seventh grade, my friend had shown me the song no ones little girl by the raincoats and since then the movemnt has helped make me the strong women i am today.
- Since i was young i have always felt the need to voice my opinion and speak up for others or try to help in any way that i can. I strongly believe that if you are in the position to have your voice heard you should speak out.
- Being a member of both the lgbtq and feminist families, a very core part of my belief's is equality. A world should be a safe and welcoming place for all people, not just some kinds of people.
INFLUENCES
It
can be hard to create yourself "originally", thus i find i pull alot of
who i am from people i look up to. My values are stemmed from
those around me like family and friends
Though These two have very differnt music they both have shared qualites that i love. For instances, the music industry has a reputation of being a hard place for women, but both are self-made icons. Especially grimes who writes, mixes, produces and directs for her music. To explain why i idolize the raincoats i will use a quote from one of their songs "when you ask me why im a feminst i say why the hell would i not be"
In a culture buried in celeberties, alot of my influences are people i dont even know. It just so happens that two of mine are both self-made singers, Grimes (left) and the raincoats (right).
WHY DOES IT MATTER?
Reffering to my need for personal choices, i know that other peoples choices may conflict against my own; though conflict is rarely seen as a good thing in this case i think it is. To explain, changes happen because something was questioned or was thought differntly of , this process of conflicting ideas help us to grow and evolve. For example, had women not questioned the cultural norms of sexism i may not be in school and women would not be where they are today.
ME
The above things ultimatly create me, i am not bisexual or an artist or a b*tchy feminist instead i am all of them combined and more. I am a sixteen year old girl who strongly cares for others, is ambitious and open minded and just so happenes to be a gay, feminist, artist.
